Coupons for Amazon Books – How to Take Advantage and Save
I am going to start this article with a short story. Not too long ago I was walking around my college campus and was trying to figure out how much money me and my parents had spent for my college education. Calculating tuition money, living expenses and other extras I soon reached the conclusion that not only had I overspent on some items but that I would never be able to get all that money back in the future.
I soon started thinking about ways to recover some of the money I had spent, at least a percentage of it. I knew I could not get my tuition money back and rent was out of the question. But I figured there was an easy way to sell some of my books and get part of my expenses back. And that was through the amazon.com website.
What I will explain here is how to make some money out of old books you do not need and how to save a lot of money buying textbooks with amazon promo codes through the Amazon website. In reality, most of us have a variety of old books stacking up in our room in piles and taking up valuable space. Even though most of those books we rarely read, we still feel good seeing them around until we decide to move or clean up some space somehow. Then it all becomes our nightmare.
If you are one of those people who like keeping everything around or most of your books are expensive books that have sentimental value to you, then I see your point and I will not argue. But if you think that all those items will end up in the humid basement not to be seen again, then you should think about making some money before they are worth zero.
Even though this trick does not apply to books only but other items too, I will focus on the textbooks here.
All you have to do is visit the Amazon site and create a sellers account. This step is important since you have to give your payment information to them so you can get paid for the books that you sell. After you create your account you can start listing the books you want to sell and name your price.
Be careful here since I would suggest you pay attention to the description section of your books. My advice is to describe the textbook’s condition as accurately as possible. You really don’t want to ship your books to the buyer that later realizes that your book is unreadable or has heavy damage and wants to return it. If your books is in great condition mention that in the description. If it is in bad condition, write that too. It is OK as long as you are sincere. Try to be a little detailed regarding the actual condition. Mention if there is highlighting or underlined pages, cover damage etc.
As far as pricing goes I would recommend you look at the used book prices of the same item on Amazon.com. Make sure you price your textbook competitively. If you offer the lowest price I can almost guarantee that it will sell like hotcakes. If you ask for more money it might sit around for a while.
When your book sells you will receive an email from amazon with details regarding the shipping process and the address of the buyer where you should ship the textbook. You have to ship the item within a specified time period. Amazon will give you a small refund for your shipping costs but my personal experience is that you end up paying a little more for shipping than what amazon will give you.
Amazon will take some commission from your sale that is a small percentage of your sale price. You are always able to see the exact amount of their commission when you name your sale price so this is fair enough.
This way you can list multiple books you want to get rid of or you do not need any more and get some money back.
But what about buying new or used books at a heavy discount? Although I would recommend used textbooks, new books are also offered at a much lower price at the amazon site. Amazon offers up to 90% discounts on used textbooks through their site and this can be as high as 30% for new books. You can navigate through and find the right link or use one of the popular amazon coupons sites. All those discounts are available through coupon codes and promotional codes that are available through multiple sites.
In terms of the variety of textbooks offered, I assure you they include all categories from computers to visual arts.
Except for coupons for amazon and online amazon coupon codes there is one more way to save on shipping costs. Register for an amazon student account. It is entirely free and you will get free shipping for the first 6 months.
PS: Although amazon coupon codes can easily be used to save money, Amazon will also give you the option to sell your textbooks back to them. I have to say I do not have enough experience with this way of selling but I tried a few times and realized their buy-back price is much lower than the one I could get using a seller’s account so this is not a technique I would suggest at this time.
